1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs well beaten 1/2 cup Crisco oil 2 cups buttermilk 2 1/2 cups flour 2 1/2 tsp. soda |
3 cups all bran cereal
1 cup raisins(optional) 1 cup boiling water 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. cinnamon NOTE;Instead of sugar as above you may substitute 1 cup of sugar plus 1/2 cup of molasses |
Put sugar, eggs, oil and buttermilk in the large bowl of your electric mixer and beat thoroughly.
Combine the flour and soda and add to mixture.
Combine the cereal, raisins, spices and water; stir and add to mixture. Cool.
Refrigerate at least overnight and up to 3 weeks.
Cook in buttered muffin tins 25 minutes at 350 F. Serve warm.
