Marble Cake | Cakes & Cookies |
2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
3/4 tsp. salt 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup butter, softened 3/4 tsp. vanilla extract |
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3 eggs 3/4 cup milk 1 1/2 squares(1 1/2 oz.) unsweetened chocolate |
Preheat oven to 350F or moderate.
Butter and lightly flour a 10"x 6"x 3" loaf pan or a 10"diam. angel food pan.
Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder.
Cream butter thoroughly and add vanilla. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Alternately stir in the flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with flour.
Melt chocolate over hot, not boiling water. Cool slightly.
( Or melt in microwave) Remove 1/3 of cake batter and blend chocolate into it. Fill pan by spoonfuls,alternating plain and chocolate batters. Run a knife through batter several times to make marble pattern. Bake 60 to 65 minutes or until cake tester inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool 20 minutes and remove from pan.
