Molasses Cooky Cutouts | Cakes & Cookies |
3 3/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. cocoa 2 tsp. ground ginger 1 tbsp. cinnamon |
2 tsp. ground cloves
1 cup softened sweet butter 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1/2 cup molasses ROYAL FROSTING |
Sift flour, baking soda, salt and spices together.
Beat butter until fluffy; add sugar gradually, beating well after each addition. Add egg and molasses; beat well. Stir in flour mixture; blend well. Wrap in plastic wrap or foil; refrigerate several hours or overnight.
Roll out small portions of dough on a floured pastry board; cut into animal or Christmas shapes with cooky cutters; brush excess flour off dough. Place on a lightly greased cooky sheets.
Bake in a 350 F oven for 8 minutes or until edges are browned. Let cookies cool a few minutes on cooky sheets. Remove to wire racks with spatula; cool.
Decorate with Royal Frosting.
