Blueberry Buckle Desserts

50 ml. shortening(4tbsp.)
125 ml. brown sugar(1/2 cup)
1 egg
250ml. flour(1 cup)
7 ml. baking powder(1 1/2tsp.)
1 ml. salt(1/4 tsp.)
75ml. milk( 1/3 cup)
500ml.fresh or frozen blueberries(2 cups)

TOPPING
75 ml.brown sugar(1/3cup)
75 ml. flour(1/3 cup)
25ml. butter( 2 tbsp.)

Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in the egg. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the shortening mixture alternately with the milk. Spread in a greased 2L (2 quart) baking pan 20 cm. square(9"). Cover with blueberries.

TOPPING;

Combine sugar and flour. Cut butter into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse bread crumbs.Sprinkle over the blueberries. Bake in a preheated 180C (350F) oven until brown

( about 40 -45 minutes). Serve with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
