Pear Gingerbread Desserts

2 tbsp butter,melted
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 pears( Bosc or Bartlett) peeled and sliced
Cake:
1 egg
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup butter,melted
1/4 cup Fancy molasses
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp Baking soda
pinch each ground nutmeg, and cloves.

UPSIDE-DOWN PEAR GINGERBREAD

Spread butter in an 8-inch round cake pan; sprinkle with sugar. Arrange sliced pears, overlapping, in circle to cover pan.

CAKE:In a bowl, beat egg, sugar, buttermilk, butter and molasses. Stir together flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and cloves; stir into buttermilk mixture just until moistened. Pour over pears. Bake in 375¼F oven for 50 to 55 minutes or until tester inserted in centre comes out clean. Let cool on rack for 15 minutes; invert on platter. Makes 8 servings.
