Italy; Noreen's Pizza Foreign Cookery

1 tbsp. granulated yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups flour
2 tbsp. Crisco oil
1 tbsp. olive oil
3 tbsp. parmesan cheese,grated
12 oz. mozzarella cheese,grated or thinly sliced
7 1/2oz. can spaghetti meat sauce
8 oz. fresh mushrooms,sliced
1 onion,chopped
1/2 green pepper,seeded and cubed
1/2 red pepper,seeded & cubed
salami or pepperoni,sliced
4 strips bacon,diced
1 tsp.each oregano & basil
2 tbsp. olive oil
2 tbsp. parmesan cheese

Dissolve sugar in warmed water-milk mix. Add yeast, stir and let rise 5 minutes. Put flour and salt in food processor and blend.

Add yeast and oil;blend until smooth and the dough begins to form a ball and leave the sides of the processor. Turn dough out onto a floured board and knead 2 or 3 minutes.Place dough in a greased bowl. Turn dough to grease top.Cover and let rise until double in bulk.(about 3/4 hour). Roll dough out into a circle. Stretch it to fit into a 12" diameter pizza pan. Build up a little rim.

Cook bacon strips in the microwave for 3 minutes,as directed.

Fry the onion and mushrooms until golden in bacon fat and oil. Soften green and red pepper in butter in the fry pan.

Brush olive oil on pizza dough surface. Sprinkle parmesan cheese over. Spread 1/3 mozzarella over.Spread the spaghetti sauce over evenly. Spread the mushroom-onion mixture over and the 1/3 of the mozzarella. Now distribute the pepper cubes evenly over. Next spread the remaining mozzarella over;then the meats. Sprinkle the oregano, basil and parmesan over and dribble the oil over at the last.

Cook in a preheated 400F oven for 25 minutes or until pizza is golden.

NOTE: Completed pizza may be frozen up to 1 week before baking.
