Bread Stuffing for Chicken | Pancakes & Dumplings |
4 cups fine bread crumbs
2 small onions, finely chopped 1/2 cup finely chopped celery 1 green pepper, seeded and finely chopped 1/2 cup Fleichman's margerine 1/4 tsp. salt |
1/8 tsp. each of mace, pepper, nutmeg
1/2 tsp. each of thyme, sage 1 tsp. parsley white wine *optional;1/2 cup of finely ground nuts |
Melt the margerine in a large dutch oven. Add onion, celery and green pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add the spices and stir for 2 or 3 minutes more. Remove from heat and stir in bread crumbs. Add wine if more moisture is needed. Cool before using.
NOTE: Add the nuts after the crumbs, if using nuts Pecans are especially nice.
